One of the renewed concepts that emerged
from the Second Vatican Council is that of shared responsibility among
laity, religious and clergy.
PURPOSE
The Parish Pastoral Council of St. Mary
Parish exercises shared responsibility for the pastoral life of the parish
under the leadership of the Pastor. The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative
and advisory group who assists the Pastor in the Pastoral care of the Parish.
TASKS

to research the needs, ideas and hopes
of the faith community; |
|
|
to encourage and support existing ministries; |
|
|
to evaluate the quality of life in the
faith community; |
|
|
to plan for the parish's future by recommending
policies, procedures and programs that will carry on the Church’s mission
in the parish and the surrounding neighborhood. |
COMPOSITION
The Parish Pastoral Council is composed
of members of the pastoral staff and members of the parish, under the leadership
of the pastor.
STRUCTURE
Besides the members already described,
the structure of our Parish Pastoral Council also includes Four Commissions:

Education Commission |
These Commissions are composed of interested
parishioners and their membership is approved by the Council.
The Commissions are accountable to the
Council and act in accord with the goals, policies and procedures set by
the Council.
Within these policies, each of the ministries
which flow from one of the four Commissions, are free to operate in their
own legitimate competencies.
